INTERMEDIATE COURSES/RIVER TRIPS

A professionally guided and instructed river trip of the River Liffey for those interested in learning how to paddle rivers and those training for the L3 skills award and those who have successfully completed our Weekend Beginner Course.

The trips run on selected Saturdays from 10am – 2pm (ish).

You can click the River Tab on our booking page and scroll down to find the latest river trip dates.

Our experienced and friendly instructors will introduce you to river kayaking and help you build and polish any existing skills.

The emphasis is first and foremost on enjoyment as well as building skills, improving confidence and working on river safety and awareness.

The river trips will run on the very scenic River Liffey through Dublin’s famous Strawberry beds, taking in some wonderful scenery and wildlife along the way (as well as some weirs!)

Kayaking.ie can provide gear and equipment for you if necessary.

Note: You must have a minimum standard of level 2 to join these trips. If you do not yet hold the level 2 skills award then we advise you to join our weekend beginner course first.

From Lucan Main St. take the first exit off the small roundabout at the Ulster Bank. Drive over the bridge over the river Liffey. Take an immediate left and drive along a narrow road with terraced houses to your right and the river to your left. Travel for a few hundred metres along this road until you come to a very sharp bend in the road. Pull in here. This is our meeting point.

All of your usual kayaking gear or if you don’t have any we will provide it for you and all you need to bring is something to wear under a wetsuit (togs or shorts), footwear that you don’t mind getting wet and a towel. If the weather is cool you might like to bring base layers, an old pair of tights, socks, a hat, fleece and a rain jacket (as appropriate). We will provide everything else.

Absolutely, it’s better to practice in the kayak you use regularly. If you do not have a kayak we can provide one for you.
