Meet our Team

Jenny Kilbride

Founder, Manager and Tea Maker

Jenny founded Kayaking.ie in 2010. Her passion and enthusiasm for kayaking and her desire to share this passion with others encouraged her to take the chance and get kayaking.ie off the ground. The business has come a long way since then but it’s still entirely based around a love of nature and the water and helping others to experience the beauty of the natural world.

Jenny’s love for kayaking started when she joined UCD college canoe club. Jenny loves being on the water and participating in many different kayaking disciplines. Her whitewater kayaking expeditions have taken her all over the world to countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador, Canada, New Zealand, Nepal, Indonesia, Uganda, Zambia and all over Europe. She also twice represented Ireland at international level on the Irish Freestyle team and was the team manager.

Over the years Jenny has worked towards becoming one of the few female Level 4 River Kayak Instructors in Ireland. She is also an Instructor Trainer – training and assessing many of Ireland’s instructors. She has worked in many teaching roles both in Outdoor Education courses and through Kayaking.ie.

Jenny is a proud ambassador for the Great Outdoors and Pyranha Kayaks.

She has introduced thousands of people to paddling in Ireland and has also provided opportunities for them to paddle abroad to Sloviena with her guidance. She is a very skilled paddler and instructor and brings great energy and enthusiasm to the water.

Jenny is also a registered teacher, a qualified barrister, has a degree in English and history and is an accomplished singer.

Sean Hendrick

Manager

Sean Hendrick is one of Ireland’s most talented kayakers. Sean is well known for his friendly, caring and safe instructing style.

He has been kayaking since he was 10 years old. His dad and older brother were his early kayaking influences.  He’s been hooked on kayaking since joining his local canoe polo club and since heading out at the weekends with his family learning to whitewater kayak and race downriver boats.

In 2006 he finished his first Liffey Descent and in the following years he won National canoe polo titles and represented Ireland at World and European Championships.

After joining the DIT College Canoe Club Sean realised how much fun kayaking can be. Next he joined an international trip to Slovenia with Kayaking.ie in 2011 where he passed his level 4 river assessment. He decided to become an instructor to share his passion for kayaking. He’s been with kayaking.ie ever since!

As if that wasn’t enough, Sean then took up slalom kayaking, made the Irish slalom team and paddled at the World U23 Canoe Slalom Championships in 2013. Oh and he won his class in the Liffey Descent too!

Clara Grey

Position

Clara started kayaking at the age of 14 in a summer camp here at kayaking.ie. She got hooked very quickly into the paddling bug and began training as a K1 paddler at the local racing club.

Clara spent 3 years voluntarily coaching groups in the K1 discipline and introducing beginners to the basics of the sport. During her time in the club she organised a Women’s Paddle day to promote female interest in the sport and to get as many young girls involved as possible!

She started white water paddling with the expert guidance of Jenny Kilbride and got the chance to develop as a white water paddler and instructor travelling around Ireland kayaking and instructing throughout her time in University.

Having started a degree in Music and English in Maynooth, she competed nationally for the Maynooth University Canoe Kayak Club. Clara spent time on the committee of the club playing important roles in safety and skill development, she was also a part of hosting and organising Kayaking Inter-varsities Kilkenny 2020.

Clara is now a full time instructor at kayaking.ie and has entirely fallen in love with the seals.
