Royal Canal Guided Tour

Tours run every Saturday and Sunday at 10am. Tours go at a leisurely, relaxed pace. It’s all about enjoying yourself.

Our tours start at the Royal canal amenity group centre between Lucan and Leixlip.

Getting There:

By Train:
Take the Commuter line to Leixlip Confey station. Outside the train station walk back over Cope bridge to the otherside of the canal and turn right down to beautiful foot trail along the canal (10 mins) until you reach the green RCAG Centre.

By Car:
From Leixlip drive to Leixlip Confey train station continue over Cope bridge on the R149 until you reach a T junction. Turn right and follow the R149 until you reach the green Royal Canal Amenity Group centre on the right hand side (1km).

From Lucan:
Take the Liffey bridge cross straight through the T junction towards Clonee, go straight through both roundabouts until you cross the Royal canal bridge. Take the first left down the R149, the green RCAG centre will the on the left hand side (1km).

Please arrive at the designated tour time. i.e. if your tour is at 10am aim to arrive at 10am. Our tours last for 2.5 hours from time of arrival to time of leaving. We will spend some time getting used to the kayaks before heading out on our adventure.

All you need to bring is something to wear under a wetsuit (togs or shorts), footwear that you don’t mind getting wet and a towel. If the weather is cool you might like to bring base layers, an old pair of tights, socks, a hat, fleece and a rain jacket (as appropriate). We will provide everything else.

We welcome children over the age of 10 to kayaking.ie. We can organise kayaking for kids parties.We can also run bespoke tours and family kayaking sessions.

We will accept children from as young as 6 using double sit on top kayaks and open canoes and from 11 years upwards using individual kayaks. And in case you were wondering… you are never too old!!

Our guided kayak tour is a great group activity. We’ll even provide Prosecco and chocolates for groups of 6 or more. Any wonder we won an award for the best adventure tour company.

Don’t worry you don’t need to be a pro – our trips are suitable for complete beginners and all of our gear and equipment is comfortable.

We will give you a wetsuit to wear or you can wear your own. Feel free to wear a rain jacket/pants or wind breaker or a thermal top/fleece over the wetsuit if you wish.
